Part 1: Statement of Intent
The Ginger Lobster Productions Health and Safety policy is to:
- Prevent accidents & cases of work-related ill health.
- Manage the health and safety risks within our workplace.
- Ensure health and safety risks for staff and freelance crew on shoots are managed.
- Provide clear instructions and, where necessary, training to ensure staff are competent to carry out their work.
- Consult with employees on matters affecting their health and safety.
- Ensure all equipment is well maintained and safe to use.
- Maintain safe and healthy working conditions.
- Ensure that staff are aware of all emergency evacuation procedures when working on location.
- Seek proper advice on any specific health and safety issues when working on location, and communicate this advice to all crew.
- Complete risk assessments for all work carried out outside the office.
- Review and revise this policy regularly.
Part 2: Responsibilities for Health and Safety
- Overall and final responsibility for health and safety: Joseph Bunyan
- Day-to-day responsibility for ensuring this policy is put into practice: Joseph Bunyan
- To ensure health and safety standards are maintained/improved: Joseph Bunyan
- Safety, risk assessments, consulting employees, accidents, first aid and work related ill health.
- Monitoring, accident and ill-health investigation, emergency procedures, fire and evacuation.
- Maintaining equipment, information, instruction and supervision, training.
All employees should:
Cooperate with supervisors and managers on health and safety matters.
Take reasonable care of their own health and safety.
Report all health and safety concerns to an appropriate person (as detailed above).
Part 3: Arrangements for health and safety
Risk assessment
- We will ensure that relevant risk assessments are completed for all shoots and take appropriate action.
- We will review risk assessments when working habits, locations or conditions change.
Training
- We will give staff and freelance subcontractors health and safety inductions and provide relevant training where necessary. However, freelancers are expected to arrange for and pay for themselves any training and up-skilling they need to be able to perform the job required of them competently.
- If necessary we will ensure all staff are equipped with relevant personal protective equipment and clothing.
Personal Accident Cover:
Freelancers are expected to maintain their own personal insurance arrangements.
Evacuation
We will ensure escape routes are signed and kept clear.
We will make sure plans are tested and reviewed regularly.
